Learners at JigsawPlus have been taking part in the ‘I Dig Trees’ campaign recently, to help combat climate change and biodiversity decline.
The ‘I Dig Trees’ campaign aims to support our environment by planting trees and JigsawPlus learners have been doing their part by planing trees in the garden of our Café on the Park enterprise recently. Under the guidance of our Horticulture Tutor, they worked really hard planting a native hedgerow of hazel, elder, rosa, hawthorn and dogwood. Each whip was staked and protected, then mulched to retain moisture and prevent weeds. This hedge will help support and protect wildlife for years to come and can be seen in the Cafê garden alongside a wild cherry tree, all kindly donated through Surrey County Council.
