The World Autism Awareness initiative in April won terrific local support this year as a huge number of businesses, schools, colleges and individuals took part by dressing and decorating in blue, the colour adopted worldwide for autism awareness.
We were delighted to welcome the captains from Cranleigh Golf & Country Club to the new JigsawPlus Centre for Lifelong Learning after Jigsaw was chosen as the club’s Charity of the Year.
The seventh 10k Jigsaw Run has been set for Sunday November 25th and is open for entries. The fast, flat run at Dunsfold Park, taking in part of the Top Gear track, offers probably the last chance of the season to nail a best time.
London Marathon runner Chris Page has raised more than £4,000 for Jigsaw – double his original target. His inspiration for this fantastic achievement has been the experiences of his cousin, a former Jigsaw School pupil and now adult learner at JigsawPlus.
New opportunities for work experience in fields ranging from retail to gardening and the hotel business have been offered by local organisations to JigsawPlus adult learners – and eagerly taken up!
A Gymnastics Festival organised by the Gymnastics Factory near Guildford has raised an amazing £1,720 for Jigsaw. Around 350 children of all ages put in some incredible performances in a fantastic day of activities and learned routines.
Our third Summer Fun Day featuring an It’s A Knockout competition is being held in Shalford Park near Guildford on Saturday July 7th – and we’re looking for teams to take part.
#JigsawJam beat all expectations as two extra acts joined the line-up at the last minute to provide a great night out at The Boileroom in Guildford, helping raise awareness of autism.
